Art Print Sales Support Kite Research

This edition, limited to 250 prints total, has been produced to complement the release of Susan’s book Tracking Desire: A Journey After Swallow-tailed Kites.

The 12.5 x 18 inch prints on acid-free stocksell for $18.70. With 7% tax that comes to $20.00. The sale of the first twenty prints will pay for printing costs. After that ten dollars from each sale will go to Avian Research and Conservation Institute (ARCI), a non-profit research entity.

The original art, white scratchboard, was produced for a calendar distributed by First Florida Banks in 1988. This was not the first kite illustration for environmental educator and activist Jono Miller who rendered the kite-based logo for the Crowley Museum and Nature Center, which is located just north of Myakka River State Park.

ARCI Research Director Ken Meyer works on the ecology and behavior of wild birds with the goal of supporting and informing conservation planning. ARCI's focus usually is on species and communities that are considered rare, vulnerable, and good bioindicators of ecosystem health. Representative projects include:
